West Bend (WI) Community Restores a Treasured Icon

The Historic West Bend Theatre in West Bend, WI, originally opened in 1929. Given its status as a valuable historic landmark, the community created a board of directors tasked with an ambitious theater-restoration project. The group’s fundraising goal for the complete restoration is $3.5 million and, due to strong community support for the project, $2.3 million has already been donated by the community, with an additional $1.2 million expected to be raised through government credits and grants.

The funding already received enabled the theater’s existing, vertical sign to be removed, rebuilt using modern components and reinstalled.
